Merit Mining Corp. Appoints New Director

December 22, 2009 - Vancouver, British Columbia. Merit Mining Corp. (TSX-V:MEM) reports that Kenneth Collison has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company.  

A professional engineer with over 40 years experience in the mining industry, Mr. Collison recently retired as COO of Thompson Creek Metals Company to form his own consulting business.  Prior to this position with Thompson Creek Metals, Mr. Collison was Vice President and General Manager of Coeur d'Alene Mines Corp. from 1996 to 2000, responsible for the development of the 200,000 ounce per year Kensington Gold Mine and held numerous senior positions with Rio Algom.
